Around 1900 she broke a hip, and since they didn't know how to set hips
back then, she spent the last eighteen years of her life in a wheelchair.
She was the first teacher for Elma and Jean Clark, as they did not start
their formal education until second and third grades, respectively, because
the Gibbons farm was so far from the school.
