NOTES: From the LDS/FHL Catalog, abstract for History and Genealogy
of the Harlan Family, comp. Alpheus H. Harlan:
"George Harlan (1650-1714)
and his brother, Michael Harlan (ca. 1660-1729), both Quakers, moved from
England to Ireland, and in 1687 immigrated to New Castle County, Pennsylvania.
George married Elizabeth Duck in 1678 in Ireland; Michael married Dinah
Dixon in 1690 in New Castle County, Pennsylvania. Other brothers immigrated
later. Descendants lived throughout the United States."
New Castle County is now
in Delaware. But in about 1690 the family moved on to Chester County,
Pa., where they were associated with the Old Kennett Monthly Meeting.
Apparently several family members are buried in the cemetery there.
