Charles Theodore Clark

BORN, January 17, 1845, Dalton, Wayne Co., Ohio  MARRIED Edith Elmira Gibbons (1875-1965) September 1, 1908 (second marriage)   CHILDREN Jennie (changed to Jean) Ida Emma, b. 2/10/1910, m. Thomas Varnum[photo]  (two children, Tom and Louisa) Elma Carlotta (1911-1985)     DIED, April 19, 1911, Columbus, Ohio

Civil War hero, regimental historian, and an attorney by profession, his life is well documented in the two papers linked below, and the excellent website on his regiment, kept by his great-grandson. Died two months before Elma Clark was born; Jean Clark Varnum (just over a year old at the time) tells a story of his death being brought on by the exertion of catching her in a fall.
